2019 has come to a distressing end. November felt like the end of Star Wars: A New Hope; it felt like we were in place to blow up the Death Star and overthrow the evildoers. But we’re only half way through December and we’ve skipped straight to the start of Return of the Jedi. The new Death Star is already well under construction, and it’s even bigger than the last. And this time there’s no Ewok’s to help us. We’re fucked. We’re seriously fucked.

We’re told that now more than ever we need to show love and compassion, especially for those worse off than us. We’re told that kindness will be what brings us strength in these times. And I agree wholeheartedly; you never changed someone’s mind by berating them. But fuck, it’s so hard not to be absolutely furious right now. At the state of the country, the people that run it and everything else.

I’d hoped to come to the end of the year with some promising news, which now feels drowned out by the dismal future that lies ahead of us.

Still, that news revolves around a fact that remains true: I’ve made some new music.

I say made – it’s still technically being made. But it’s almost completely made.

It sounds like this…

There’s (at least) 5 songs, maybe a few more. One thing I know for sure is that I’ll actually, genuinely, finally be releasing music in 2020. I’ve worked so hard on this and I honestly can’t wait to share it with you. But there’s still some final tweaks to do (which will in fact be done by some very talented people who I am super excited to have working on this, but I can’t tell you more about that yet).

And once that’s done, I have so much more backed up waiting to be put together. One thing that has come out of this new political climate is an urge to do and say much more than I already have. I cannot sit back and shout at a computer screen any more. I will use my platform – however small – to call out all that is wrong and spread a message of hope. I will involve myself in all that I can, and try my best to be a force for good.

Meanwhile, 2020 will also mean some major changes for me. I’ll be moving somewhere new – somewhere I haven’t decided yet – and giving my life a bit of a reset. I hope to get out and gig everywhere I can and share my music with as many people as possible.

If you’d like to keep up to date with whatever I do next, I highly recommend that you sign up to my mailing list. This is where I will share anything new first.

Otherwise, I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year. I’ll see you on the other side.
