As you may already know, I’ve been working on some new music lately. I’m very excited to let you know that this coming Friday, 20th March, I’ll be releasing my first single in 4 years. Finally.
Sleep Now might be one of my favourite songs I’ve ever written. I’m really proud of it, and I can’t wait to share it with you. I had the pleasure of working some of my all time heroes on this one. Steve Durose (Oceansize, Vennart, Amplifier) mixed the track, and Tom Peters (Alpha Male Tea Party) mastered it, which means it sounds a hell of a lot better than anything I could have done on my own. Massive love to both of them!
The story behind Sleep Now
I actually wrote this song a couple of years ago. It almost came from nowhere in a way songs rarely do for me. The chords just appeared by accident, and the lyrics flowed much easier than pretty much any other song I’ve written.
It’s all about homesickness. About seeing someone dealing with the difficulty of being far away from someone they care about, and wanting to take that pain away somehow, whilst hoping that same pain won’t take them away from you. A selfish love song wrapped in fear.
I also made a video
Yep. I mean, I’m an animator by day anyway so I guess it would be a bit odd for me not to wouldn’t it. That will also be available on Friday too. I’d recommend subscribing to my YouTube channel if you want to be notified of that.
Want a little preview?
Be sure to keep an eye out, and remember that if you sign up to the Landlocked Sailors Club you might even get to hear it before everyone else…
That’s all for now. No doubt I’ll have more to tell you after Friday.
